I've been through the videos and posts I can find, but still have some lingering questions as I put our 914-6 CV joints and half-shaft back together.
  1. It appears most people skip putting anything between the boot flange and the joint. Anyone regretting this? The manual says "seal with sealing compound Curil k". Is that basically the same as Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket brown?
  2. Factory service manual says On Type 914/6 seal large diameter (sealing bellow) with sealing compound EC 750 M-2 G 51. I assume there's a reason. Anyone regret skipping this? Is there a commonly available alternatives?
  3. Is there any reason to clock the joints one side to the other? Meaning orient the joint on the splines relative to each other? Maybe that is just off road vehicles to maximize travel?
