Just swapped out my 19 mm m/c for a 23 mm yesterday. Bench bleed went well but still need to do a trip around the wheels a few times.

New radiator from Renegade will ship tomorrow (fingers crossed). With any luck will have a few days for a shake down.

Wouldn’t be the first trip of the season without coming down to the wire (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Yes.

That bolt is fine and looks like you can file the edge and flip the washer. Kinda surprised the shop didn't have one.
I should have 4 washers someplace but not likely to find the hiding spot in the next 9 days. They're behind 20 years of new junk parts.

Okay Folks,
I semi scolded Myself about taking a Honda or Toyota on this run. So worst case if the 914 isn't ready I'll be taking a car designed by Mr. Porsche (just wont go that fast). LOL
Looks like nice weather.
Thurday hi of 79° low 64°
Friday hi of 75° low 59° partly cloudy
Saturday hi of 75° low 59° partly cloudy

Chris I did find a thrust washer from a VW buddies place (didn't want to take advantage at Carl's Place). The bolt took a bit of heat while scraping on the dust cap and pushed one of the edges in, had to hammer a hex bit in to remove it. I really just wanted a better one. When I ordered the new bearings and seal I was told Thursday. Just received an email saying half the order arrives Thursday and half Monday. Gonna be close!

I'll be driving on Thursday from Flagstaff to Mesquite. I'm thinking about driving old Route 66 from Seligman to Kingman rather than the interstate.

Edit: Probably going to take I-40 after all. Google says 4 hours by I-40 and almost 8 hours via old Rt 66. I'm hoping to make it for lunch at Cafe Berlin.

well.... I feel like a heal...
not the first time....

but I have to bail now.
my street car is broke.
I used up all of my repair time and actually changed the transmission (twice)
but no go...
still broken

plus I just got back from an expensive trip to sonoma.
so out of vacation and nearly out of money.
the only adult option for me is to sit this one out now.

sure am going to miss everyone

The 14 has been under construction for awhile but hopefully won’t slow you down too much.

Adelita and I are heading up Thursday and will plan to tag up with folks at lunch in Vegas at 1 pm.

All I need is a front end alignment then I'm good to go. For the last several weeks I wasn't sure I'd have the car ready or not. Cut this one a little too close for comfort. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

No beetle needed for this run. I received an email stating the inside bearing wasn't coming until Monday or Tuesday, WTH???
I finished up the 914 Friday after locating an inside bearing locally, thanks to The 900 Series Porsche shop. I did notice some inside front tire wear, so an alignment is in order. But for now I just used the old string, straight edge and tape measure method, it was toed out by about 3/16 inch.

I was getting nervous.
The 914 was throwing oil all over on the passenger side of the engine both above and below the tins and the 944 has got oil in the coolant.
The 944 is most likely an oil cooler housing gasket.
I thought the 914 was an oil cooler seal even though I just changed them a few months ago.

I wasn't liking my odds of getting them both fixed by Thursday morning.

My odds just got a whole lot better. The oil cooler seals are fine. The passenger valve cover gasket had dropped down out of place along the top edge and left a major gap for oil to fly out and get on everything.

I have the 914 fixed, now to jump on the 944.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
