I have been watching older tv shows lately. Finished Adam 12 and Dragnet. Watching Barnaby Jones and The Six Million Dollar Man now. Lot's of shots of great vintage cars in all of them.

i'm with you.
my father's favourite tv show.
sitting here in far off country australia in the late 1970s i was allowed to "sit up late" and watch the rockford files with him.

he got off on the answering machine start to every show.

i got off on beth's 914s (his lawyer chick) as a teenager.

Y'all need to get a digital OTA antenna. I get some 75 channles here in central CT and the vast majority of these shows is broadcast OTA for free.

And then build a Plex server to record them. In my basement I have all the episodes recorded for:

CHiPS
Magnum, P.I.
The Love Boat
Gilligan's Island
Green Acres
The Rockford Files
Nature
Emergency!
Seinfeld
STTNG
The SixMillion Dollar Man
Wild Wild West (still catching up)
Welcome Back Kotter
Night Court
Battlestar Galactica
The American Experience
NOVA
WKRP in Cincinnatti
...and much more.

What am I going to do with these? No clue; there's no way that I have priority to watch all these again. But it's fun to grab a beer on occasion and just toss on a Wings or Magnum or Emergency and watch an episode and believe that I could live in someone's Hawai'i beach mansion for free while driving their Ferrarri 308 (don't think I could rock the shorts though...) - GA

(Link above to one of my all-time fav writers driving one of my all-time fav cars...nice connection...)

The ‘Love Boat’? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) A lot of careers crashed and burned in the 70s early 80s.

I watched the original Magnum PI when it was on Prime. Great cars and scenery. I was surprised at how serious a few of the episodes got related to Vietnam, PTSD, etc.

The parts I like about these old campy series are the cars plus the pre-career cameos. Many times I'm like, "hey, isn't that a young X...?" and check IMDB and yup, that's who it was.

I forgot Black Sheep Squadron (nee "Baa Baa Black Sheep"). I actually really like that one for the flying scenes. I had a buddy whose dad owned one of those Corsairs that flew in the series...loved that airplane (did you know that the real Greg Boyington had a cameo appearances in two eposidoes as a hard-nosed general...? Some of the s**t that gets stuck in my brain...) - GA
