L N Engineering used to provide machining services for Type IV decks, not sure if they still do or if they aligh bore cases. OK, I called LN Engineering. The guy said they can't do align-bores... at least not yet. That service is coming soon, he said. I asked for a rough cost estimate to clean, inspect, and deck my case. Here's the estimate (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I have this link saved for future reference. I think I got it from a thread on here some time ago. Where else would it come from? No affiliation. https://www.automotivemachine.com/index.php/volkswagen-parts Since they’re in TX it couldn’t hurt to check them out. Let us know what you find out. Cheers, |

It might have been another thread on my nearly blown-up 2.3L in my other 914. They don’t do align bores anymore [ex-employee theft, I believe], however they are very good at anything else with VW engines. In fact, my 2.3L has been in their shop for a long time waiting to be worked on. The shop has had some issues with their workload, staff, and other problems. I talked to the owner last week. He’s implemented a new system to help clear the backlog. My engine is currently being worked on and I should be picking it up in a few days. So, I think it’ll be several months before they take on any new engines. Just my opinion. |
