Any tips for freeing the intake manifolds from the engine while it's still in the car? After removing the retaining nuts of course. I'm trying to replace the fuel injectors and don't have good access to them. Also worried that the inner seal that didn't come out with one of the injectors is still stuck in the port.

You don't have to remove the intake manifold to replace injectors on a type IV. If the small injector seal gets stuck in the intake manifold, just use a dental pick to fish it out.

No need to remove the intake pipes. If you decide to do it, though, just grab them and wiggle up and down while pulling outward. Could be someone used sealant between the pipes, the phenolic block spacers, and the heads.

Okay took your advice and went at it with a pick and my borescope. Success! But it was like a game of Operation on steroids. :-)
