Recently a moderator closed a thread discussing the delivery of Korijo's van. The thread was closed not because of a flame war, or because of ad hominem attacks, or even because the thread treated others on the board in a disrespectful manner. The thread was closed because a flame war "might have started." This is a poor reason to shut down speech.

Grown adults should have the right to be able to participate in a respectful debate. I think we can handle it.

My rationale behind letting it get shut down: it was off topic.

Ranks right up there with OJ (guilty or not guilty).

I did like your response... I have a new name for you "The Voice of Reason"..LOL

I only opened to it respond.

90% of the people on this board know I'm a little "hardcore"... do whatever it takes to "win".

I step on toes and it pisses people off. I dont sit on my ass and let life fly by and get ran over.

I would just like to say one thing in defense of my fire bombing suggestion. this is not the case of someone getting screwed on parts, or having to wait on a 914 and missing a fun run, show, etc. this is a guy who medically needs this van (see daves post about falling during the weekend). it amazes me that this woman would act the way she did knowing what this van was for. she deserves something worse than fire bombing her place of business, but I will leave it at that.

We vented publicly. We took a public subject (buying van) and got public support. Of course we are going to "vent" online. This is where "we"..the collective "we" communicate.

I didnt expect anything less.

I also think most of us were venting our frustration. I know I was. This is a forum for that, right? For throwing tools and venting frustration... I don't think we were out of line, IMHO.

Although if I ever ran across this "Lisa" I might not be inclined to be my usual cheery self. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

I am the voice of reason, dude.

Any person that can provoke Jen into being uncheery you know is bad news.

Pam was very critical of my participation in the "electronic lynch mob". We discussed it for 45 minutes before she posted.

She has some valid arguments: including that not only the members who posted firebomb/boxcutter "comments"... but the BBS itself could be held liable for communicating a threat.

I was pissed about the way Lisa handled the situation, and still am (to some degree).

I hate editing stuff (unless it's spelling errors on titles, or sizing pictures down). But, I did some editing on that thread to clean stuff up. But some of what we said was over the line. Maybe not over the line of "free speech", but definately over the line of "decency".

I don't agree with everything Pam said - but her points WERE valid, from a perspective (that at least partially opposed mine).

spoken as "914club member", not "boyfriend of Toolwench"

Which is exactly WHY you need her around. A wise person once said that if two partners always agree then one of them isn't necessary. After this all blows over and everybody is relaxed I hope you realize just how right her point of view is. I'm not saying anybody else was in the wrong, I'm just saying there is a hell of a lot of wisdom in Pam's comments on this subject.

I don't mind a little editing here and there is its about "cooling peoples jets". I don't like post editing just to clean things up. The ability to post freely and speak my mind is what I like about here. I left the other sites cuz of all the rules and post editing.

Geoff, I agree. That said...

What I took out were references that could land someone (or the BBS) in REAL trouble.

I only just now read the "Van Saga" thread ... I hope korijo gets the van soon and that it's in good shape. BTW, is saying that someone has an "inappropriate philosophy" an example of an ad hominem attack?

ladies and gentlemen

i do hope that my comment to aid in the collection of either the van or daves money where not misconstrued.
the gentleman i refered to is both licensed and insured in the state of calif to engage in said business .
as i stated he is not cheap but he is TOTALY legal and above board.
it also helps that he has a100% record of success .
he explained to me once over a cold adult beverage that everyone can be motivated to keep their word it is just a matter of finding the motivating factor .

however , he , like both brad and myself do belive in the asshole factor when the situation requires

once again i did not intend to offend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif)

All I was trying to do was have someone local stop by, to find out what the hold up was. I definitely didn't see this coming...

I am somewhat glad the title was molested. My humor is a tad on the sarcastic side (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Update: Lisa called here, bitchin' about the calls made to the bidders on present auctions. My wife and I said, "Tuff Shit". She got what she deserved.

FYI: She had told us repeatedly, for 8 or 9 days, that the funds cleared AND the van would be at the lift place by the end of that day !!
Guess shes a stoner, too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif)
