My 914 will be going to it's first race track this weekend, although not for the typical reason.
Sea Otter Classic! (A big bike festival). I feel bad for my car, having to stay and watch from the parking lot, but if I'm honest I wouldn't trust myself out on track anyways. Maybe one day.... Anyone else going to the festival? |

...and...Laguna Seca, not what you might think either.
I was in junior high back in 1957, what they now call "middle school" for you youngsters. Army family. My dad was just posted to Fort Ord. We all went to that very first race at Laguna. Through the years of SCCA championships, USRRC and Can-Am, I attended many races there as a spectator. My brother was a member of Don Wester's pit crew for a few years and, later raced his own sports cars there. Good memories of the original track layout. Took a clandestine lap of the track in my '59 Sprite one year when I was a college student in San Jose. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

I took my daughter to race MTB at Sea Otter when she was in high school. Not her best race, after she crashed big time on the slope east of the track. Not too hurt, but she could not find her bike quickly in the scrub brush. Still a fun weekend.

My bike at the Dual Slalom course (I had no idea what was going on but it was a fun watch! All the racers are so talented)
