4s got VW paint. L80E is a VW paint color and code.

don't know much about 6s but suspect they are painted porsche colors with porsche paint codes? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

The 914-6 used the same paint codes as a 911.

The 914-4 used the same paint codes as a VW.

Go lookup paint codes for a 1970 911.

Also GM code 11 was a very popular white back in the day. A lot of companies adopted it as a standard and renamed it or recoded it.

Actually, the 914/6 used the same paint code system as the 911 from introduction in 1969 until about VIN 9141430390 in 1971. Thereafter the VW code was stamped on the badge.
The 911 code was doubled like 1111 for a coupe and 1110 for a Targa. The 10 referred to a black roof. So far I have never found a coupe without the same color roof as the body, and never found a Targa with a roof other than black. So when they stamped the 914/6 badge they generally used just the 2 digits; in the first 50 914/6 there were some with double codes. The change to the VW system was apparently to reduce confusion. So I expect that the actual paint that Karmann used was identical whether Porsche or VW.

Kevin

I don't think the Porsche / VW paint was related to the GM paint. Porsche code 11 is light ivory and goes back to 1964 as 6404, then 1966 as 6604, then 1968 as 6804, then 1970 & 71 as 11, and from 1972 as 131. These are all badge codes, but as far as I am aware they are all color number 131 in the Porsche system and L80E in the VW system
