Funny, after seeing the first picture I thought 'Great looking car. It would look even better without the Porsche decal on the side' ...and then your 2nd picture proved me right. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Great looking car and congrats on passing inspection!
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png)

LOL, thanks Robert! Yeah, I think she is already drawing enough attention without the decal ;-).

Really hope to find a bit more background on what has been done in the past to this car as it looks like she has been taken really good care of and some nice mods were done.

Perfect, thanks guys! Guess I'll just continue my introduction here.

So my name is Marcel and I live in Hilversum in The Netherlands. I have been into aircooled VWs and Porsches for over 30 years and always had a sweet spot for the 914 but never owned one until recently I sold my 1968 Porsche 912 and bought a 1973 2 liter 914 from a well known ACVW and Porsche specialist here in The Netherlands.

Here's how the car looked when I bought it.

Very nice looking 914. And the garage too!

Welcome to the 914World!

Tnx! Yeah, the paint job was done quite well. Only a bit of blisters on the left bottom of the windshield frame that I hope to address this coming winter. Not sure where it was delivered originally but it looks like it spent the last 16 years in CA. Planning to get the Kardex to find some more history.

Welcome to the 914World!

Thank you for the welcome! The pic above is at Kieft&Klok the ACVW specialist who brought the 914 to The Netherlands. My house and garage are from 1928 and the garage is very small but the 914 just fits. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Not perfect for working on the car but happy to be able to keep her inside.

Welcome to the world. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png)

As you can see it seems that the guys in the Benelux are having a great time with there 914s
You guys have a short driving season compared to the guys in the west /south west of the USA. But love the pictures of all the cars that show up and participate in the organize tours, workshops and "wrenching days" . that Dax1969 was talking about. He is going to be a great resource for you as well as a great guy.

I find that people in the 914world are great guys and I have been here from 2007 on. We have lost a number of 914 Brothers over the years but a lot of there experience is here in the site if you ask the search Engen your question then 914world I find Google the best as it gives me a list of postings on the subject you ask for.

Best regards from Los Angeles and Welcome, welcome, welcome to 914world

Best Bob B. PS You have a very nice car.

I know! Had to take the front bumper guards of my 912 to make sure it fitted (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

73 is the best year for 914 though if you ask me.

Thank you for the very warm welcome Bob! I already found a lot of information here. It's a great resource!

Will make sure to follow your advise and hook up with the Dutch/Belgium 914 scene.

My 1968 912 was originally delivered to LA Beverly Hills dealer Estes Zipper and I even got in touch with the first owner, a vascular surgeon from LA.

beautiful specimen @Marcel Aircooled

good to see europe being repopulated with 914s returning across the atlantic.
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

the Rose Hulman window decal is interesting.
my business partners youngest son is about to leave sunny australia for chilly indiana to attend rose hulman institute of technology as an undergraduate.
it is regarded as the #1 engineering undergrad school in the USA and quite possibly the world. he is a smart boy and we will miss him. what the decal probably means is your 914 was owned at some stage of its life by an engineer and graduate of the school.
likely a very good sign.

Thanks! You might be right. The adjustable Koni's and added stabiliser bar in the rear, the electronic ignition, the oil temp and pressure gauge all show to me this was done by someone who was after some performance improvement.

Beautiful car/color … I really like the classic Dutch plate too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Had to remove my front / rear bumperette to fit it into my tiny garage too …
I might add same Persian tapestry like you have tho (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Enjoy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Sweet! Yours is probably what should be the original color on mine. Silver metallic, right? Not too bad too!

Still missing the 2.0 badge on mine.

Attached Image

Hard to find the gold one but found one at PMB Performance. A friend who is living in the US is bring it over next month as the shipping and import taxes would have been triple the cost from the badge...

you know it might never have had the 2.0 badge.
is it an early 73? like in the first 1000 or so.
the first batch of cars whether 1.7s or 2.0s didn't get the badge.
just had 914.
quite rare if thats the case.

Production month was 3 1973 so don't know how early that is? Didn't they start the model year in August the previous year? The holes for the badge are there already so might as well add it.
