Things like this remind me of the roots of the car and where the brand has gone and how successful the marketing team has been over the years.

Does everyone need one of these? I smell like oil and gas after driving my cars anyway. Only for the obsessed? Looking forward to the comments...

Would be funny to view the site metrics for this, bet they start wondering why all the activity on this item.

I think if you need to always carry a quart of oil with you for your daily excursions from your home garage, a fancy carrying case will solve the least of your problems....

Yeah, the Porsche brand (and owner type) has "evolved", from the early air-cooled days with owner's manuals that included instructions on how to adjust the valves, to the modern SUV days who car more about the logo on the hood than anything under the hood.

I might have to make something similar, I do like to keep a quart (at least in the VW, more so than the 914) but having it always sliding around is a bit obnoxious. A small bag with some velcro on the back to keep it from sliding around, and a few pouches to hold a couple of tools and a quart of oil doesn't sound like a terrible idea.

you got one of those 2.0 L A3s with the rubber band oil rings?

i inherited a 2008 from a mate who died. it missed out on the dud motor by one month.
march build instead of april. first thing i looked at when i got the car. 1.8 fsi.
so i kept it. all i have to do is change the oil twice as often to see if i can make the timing chain last.

at first i really did not like the car. felt like a german toyota (steering feel).
but i have bonded more with it recently as my shopping centre combat vehicle.
its a bit beat up externally but the interior is showroom and the mileage is 60,000km.
so i think i will keep it.

fortunately it uses zero oil. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

none of them do in fact.
the 2002 renault. zero oil use. 90,000km - engine never been apart.
and 74 914 astonishes me still. now pushing towards 50,000 miles - orig.
engine never been apart or out. even got dry stored for 16 years.
had it back on road for 4 years. not a drop of oil used. burnt or leaked.'
touch wood. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Further, if the quart of oil decided to leak while inside the bag, it would probably seep through the zipper closure. Poor design, Porsche.
