Why would there be two switches?

The one under the pedal board activates the rear brake lights. The one on the master cylinder only actuates the brake light / emergency brake light on the fuel gauge cluster. Don’t confuse the two.

You’ll be pleased when the Haynes shows up. The correct orientation of the ‘brake light switch arm’ is shown on P 129 and the adjustment is described. Remove the carpeting that is not glued in. Why fight with it? The master cyl switch is a low brake pressure warning light. Not to be confused with the actual brake light switch.
