Instead of playing the lottery, send the money to me and I''ll send you back one penny. that way we will both end up with more money than if you spent it on a ticket.
The California lottery pays back 50% of what it takes in.
You can go play keno in vegas and get a payback somewhere in the 80 to 90% range. Why is it that no one except really old people and drunks regularly play keno in Lost Wages, but everyone and his dog want to play the lottery even though the odds totally suck? I doan get it.

I don't play the "hillbilly retirement fund" (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) people here pool their money and put in $20/month... not a lot, but more than I want to spend...

if I thought of the lottery as "fun" it would be different, but it's just not... I'd much rather spend my $20 on slots, black jack or a lap dance... sure I won't get anything back from the $20, but I'll be fun for the 3 minutes it lasts! State lottery is a tax. You just decide if you want to pay it or not.

Play lottery like I do. Suggest numbers to others. Cost to me. Not a penny.
They spend the buck.
Why the hillbilly inclusion slur?
Sounds like most all people in America dreaming to me. Winning the lottery.
Their money. Didn't hear jack about hillbilly's wasting money on rusty German cars. LOL

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/agree.gif) lottery here is used for public education... like an extra school tax... at least that's what we're told... I'd like to see where the money was REALLY spent.

I wasn't trying to slam people who play... play if you want, it's your money... hell wipe your ass with a c-note for all I care... I was just making a crack and explaining my view on the subject...

if you look at the winning numbers history since the lottery began, you'll see that it's *not* a even spread of all possible numbers.
not even close.
some numbers show up way more often than others ...

now what does that tell us?

BUT, over time, as the laws of probability state, they will all have the same chances... so, 1,2,3,4,5,6 is just as likely as 36, 24, 21,42,10, 50 any combination is JUST AS LIKELY...

the people at my work also think that losing one week, makes the next week more likely... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/screwy.gif) buying more tickets for a given week does increase the likelyhood, the odds go from 'none' to "shitty, fat chance"

aha... I have intresting anecdotes, and a couple systems I use, when I decide to do such a thing.

When I return from Der Schtudio, I will throw out the concept of wheeling. Pick 12 numbers, see you in a few hours.

Oh, and the stated 13mil+ odds states like FLA claim are B F'N S. It's in the 50m's...

I only buy the occasional scratcher.. Fun to scratch, just like skeeter bites. I figure I'm paying for that, and anything I win is a bonus. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
