Did Porsche go to a deeper fan housing when the regulator changed or are you talking about higher amp alternators that are just bigger? As mentioned by a previous poster.

Yes. You can’t just drop a late alternator into an early fan housing.

And for some reason you have a later fan housing and an early alternator they sell a 9mm spacer to make it all work. Best, Mark

I removed the relay board in my brothers 6 conversion and installed an internal voltage reg alternator. It was super easy to do. I used an engine wire harness kit from Perry and a male 14 pin harness plug to make it all work. Here's the alt info. It's a new Valeo unit.
75 amp, internal reg, part # 432776 or 911 603 120 04. Some minor modifications are required on the rear alt air guide. There's plenty of online info on this mod. The factory even put out a bulletin on how to do it.

Circling back here, I got ahold of Perry and he is going to be making a harness for me. I ordered a IR alternator and will swap it in once I get it, hopefully I do not have issues with getting it to fit. Thanks everyone!

I would love to see a walk through of how to eliminate the relay board. I would call myself "wiring challenged" but can do the basics. I am very intimidated by the thought but would love to get it out of there and eliminate it. My car has the defroster on the rear window, so something extra there....

I considered eliminating the relay board, but in the end I kept it for simplicity sake.

Actually removed the mounting tabs and welded them back on

If you want to keep your rear defroster, it’s going to be best to keep the engine relay board, as that’s where the defroster relay is located.

The main considerations for eliminating the engine relay board are: how are you powering your fuel pump, is your alternator externally regulated, and is stock/original appearance important. Most people relocate their fuel pump to the front and power it from the front fuse panel. If you have an internally regulated alternator then you don’t need the voltage regulator on the board, but I can make a harness to mount the regulator in a different location. Removing the relay board makes oil filter changes much easier as well as making your engine bay visually cleaner.
