You have to admit though, if you didn't know about the prior sale that is real good money for a conversion car.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Look at the receipts on the shop that built it. You won't find a shop that will do that build under $200k

Ya but extremely well sorted factory 6's have sold for less. That is really good for a conversion car. when you job out your entire build you should never expect to even break even. Receipts are only a gauge of money spent not the value of the whole project. Someone found a personal interest in the car and was willing to pay the 170k the first time. This time not so much. It is worth what it's worth at the time of the sale. Very nice car.

That’s assuming it even “sold” for $170k the first time. Unfortunately BAT has become infested by scammy brokers, shill bidding, and flippers. Hard to even know for certainty what is really going.

Already at $88,888 with 6 days left on the auction.
It will go well above 100k without a doubt.
I'd imagine the reserve is at least $150k.
Low mileage 993 engines are not cheap even if you can find them.
Will be interesting to see what actually happens this time around.

Doesn't make it worth 150, the rest of the build looks fairly middle of the road to me, so you are buying an engine.

I also feel a 3.6 is a little overkill in a 914.

Overkill is just enough IMHO…

Says nobody that owns a 3.6 914. I am surprised how streetable it is and how nice it drives until you jump on it.

Hope the relist doesn't show that current drivers video (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) ,truly awful driving style and represents the car poorly , found it difficult to watch TBO ,makes it look hard to drive ,besides awful shifting too often and not using the rev range and torque as an example, the original video has been shot with a driver that knows the car and its ability shows how fast it really is IMO .
Regardless the price line has been drawn on the playing field and potential new buyers now know that now, pretty much done and dusted .

Proof the buyer spent too much at the wrong time, the market has topped and they are not willing or able to take a huge loss. This will pop up again but not make the recent price I think. One comment said they had 2 to 3 times into the car. That was a mistake that should only be made by someone that loves the car and has no intention of ever selling it.

I think the owner passed away who owned the PMS Big Laguna build. Eric got a killer deal on it. I think that car was also close to a $200k build cost. @eric9144

Correct on mine, not sure @NARP74 was 'talking to me' with that comment but I will say that yes I got my PMS car for probably a 70% discount, right place right time PMS estimated ~$200-250k to replicate in todays money (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
To put some perspective on the open checkbook builds, mine was done circa ~2008 and I stopped adding up the receipts I was given at purchase when I was into the upper $140k range because I didn't want to know at that point--Didn't want to scare myself out of driving it. Now most of you wouldn't (and I wouldn't either)...but you can dump close to $100k -just into the motor/trans combo- if you do a 3.6 or bigger core + rebuild and get a 915 with either WEVO or Bott mod's to make it work. There was a 911 resto mod on BaT with a 3.8 RS build like the one in my car, done by a very reputable San Diego shop and the build sheet on that motor was north of $40k (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

$$ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/post-2-1117899824.gif) $$ adds up and FAST

That's a crazy conundrum. Do you insure it for what they are going for versus the cost to built it? Like most, I built my car over time and could not afford one outright or would pay that much money for one in the first place. Of course the deal that Eric got is another story...

@Steve mine is insured for what PMS said it would cost to recreate when I first got it and I think that number was $195k --insurance values and sale prices are two different animals for sure (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

@eric9144 not aimed at anyone. Mostly a comment on market timing and flipping opportunists I guess. I would rather it be done for love than money.
