This is turning out to be a fun history as well as restoration project. As it turns out a friend of mine here in OR is originally from Sewickley PA where my car was converted to a race car and there was evidently a strong 914 racing contingent. He had some pics from back in the day. My car would have been part of this cadre. Evidently the yellow car survives as here today. The white one is EP spec now.
Small world indeed.

After hitting every possible snag, snafu and hiccup my 914 is finally getting within spitting distance of a racetrack. I have a few remaining tasks and a racin' we go. Next weekend for that matter. What an ordeal it has been..

Well... this season pretty much ended as it begun.. with me on the sidelines.
Got the car 90+% ready - definitely ready for some test laps, but the rest of the necessary infrastructure fought me at every step. Trailer, pit kit, spares. etc etc. Today would have been my last chance for a sanctioned race. Track day season pretty much over around here too. There are a few "fall days" but in these parts that means rain, which I don't mind in a sorted car that I'm familiar with. I'd rather do shakedowns in decent weather.
Good news is I'll be starting out next year with everything fresh... Sigh..

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents worth of 914 racing history. A friend and I bought the white #0 car in the pics above in 2020. It had last raced in 1976 and sat in an unheated garage until we came along. Of course, everything needed updating but when finished we had a nice, fun car to go vintage racing. Sadly, Father Time has caught up with me and I no longer feel comfortable driving at speed so the car is up for sale.

Sounds very much like my project, which also came from OH before arriving here in OR about 10 years ago.

What drivetrain is in yours? Great looking , by the way.
