The top is so easy you don't really need to worry about that. Pulling the heads pistons and sleeves takes like 30 minutes. If you need to go into the bottom end, the top end is not the stress. Particularly since the exhaust studs will already be prepped and ready from the last time.

The top is so easy you don't really need to worry about that. Pulling the heads pistons and sleeves takes like 30 minutes. If you need to go into the bottom end, the top end is not the stress. Got it - agree; set aside cooling issues for the moment as not likely related to the cold start issue. What I’m trying to get a sense of is whether there is some underlying fast overheating (ie mouse house in the tin) that would quickly confuse the Fuel Injection by maybe starting too rich but very quickly going too lean to re-start if the 3/4 side head when the CHT is overheating. Well, I should have listened, but knowledge is hard to come by. Pulled the tins, and there was a bit of a mess in there. Appears to be mostly fiberglass insulation and leaves.
