As far as I know, about 99% of customers have been able to complete their installation without any extra work beyond what's in the instructions.

It kind of dawned on me on me that all it really needed was for me to loosen the front mount bolts and slide back just .100” of an inch which would have been the right answer . Oh well my mistake (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I recently helped @scottthephotog put one of the Tangerine shift bushings in one of his 914s. It was a problem, but not because of the bushing. The hole for the shift rod was visibly off center to the ring for the boot. So installing the bushing was challenging.
But it works fine. |

Has anyone installed one of these tangerine firewall bushings in a car with stock 914-6 shift set up? I have an early car (71 conversion) with a 914-6 tail shift transmission and shift rods with a rennshifter, which has been working well. I installed the tail shift version of the firewall bushing and now it doesn’t seem like it will shift into 1st 3rd or 5th.
Keeping it adjusted as it was before I installed the bushing I can only get the shifter into about the neutral position before the shift rod U joint hits the firewall bushing. Anyone else experience this issue? Thanks Nate |
