So.....Its been over 6 months since I touched this project. Shortly before I stopped I had just installed the 3.0, but at the cost of cutting the rear trunk area as I did not want to move to carbs or a 3.2 intake or EFI or any of that. My goal was to have the SC engine be swappable with any of my other cars and it failed. The engine was in, but the engine lid would not close without cutting it AND the trunk would not close without cutting it. Some out there may say "no, it will fit" I was one. Maybe if you use one of the other mounts like the naro scape or one were the engine sits lower, but mine is using the factory mount and it was where the engine seal mates up correctly.

Anyway after I was defeated I left the project. A month ago I decided to be done with it all together and listed it and the engine on here and marketplace. Well I got a buyer for the engine, but no one wanted to take on a roller 6 conversion so I sold more of the parts and was left with a 4cyl setup, broken engine, incomplete. I got the itch again to drive this thing so started looking into rebuilding the top end on my 1.7 and turn it into a 1911. I also started soliciting running engines. I was sure about just doing the top end until I opened cyl 3 and saw a big hole in the piston AND debris in the case. Well now its a full rebuild. More time and more money. I was already talking with Al Meridith. We struck a deal on his rebuilt 1911 and offered to drive it from GA to MD. It was great meeting Al again as the last time was Okteenerfest 4ish years ago when I brought my brown 911 targa.

So now I am back at it getting the car ready to drive by Carlisle.

Al is a great guy and fantastic engine builder! Hope to see this as a runner by Carlisle. I’m working on my broken engine mount so maybe I’ll get motivated to use the swap meet as a deadline as well.
