This has nothing to do with Ben and his work. I have used his services several times and it is always most excellent.

When is a 914 a good candidate for flares? Years, mods, condition, pluses and minuses???

Ben, if you do a west coast TIG-Tour, I hope that you sell t shirts with each location printed on the back. I want a burgundy hoodie with the gold ink.

For the west coast guys, I'm in northern Santa Barbara county and have a shop on my property that could accommodate this work. I spoke with Ben and can arrange for flights. If anyone has TIG equipment available to use, that would be helpful as I don't have that equipment at present. We could also arrange to have some work done at my place and some work done at a suitable location in the LA basin.

I'll let Ben decide on the most suitable dates, but I think he said late December or early January would work best for him.

Yes, actually in the Santa Maria valley, but not in the city itself.

Any year is as good as the next. The least rust and accident damage possible.

So this is on the radar for December/Jan. I plan to be there for a week. Jim will be the first car. That may take me the whole week though so maybe not able to do any other cars.

I am going to start booking summer soon. If you are interested let me know. Local folks from Chicago-Madison no additional charges as it easy to get to you. For out of state folks beyond an easy drive home you would be on for hotel, airfare, meals, and providing welding equipment.

I’m underway Ben. I followed up on a recommendation from Ben @ Martin Mid Engine. We’re doing the rust repairs and flares at Ken Dawson’s shop in Springfield, Oregon.

@mb911 - Ben - If you get to San Francisco, let me know where. I'd love to come meet you. Or, if you're driving from SF to Ukiah, you'll pass right by me in Petaluma. Even better would be to host a lunch At The Red Barn with you and the local 914 crew.
Keep me posted about your plans?

So the San Fran job maybe off the books. Waiting to hear back. If thats the case I have one in Ukiah and then head to riverside area but the 2 jobs I have lined up will not pencil out for 2 cars and 8 hour drive time so I need to find a few more by Bruces place to make this work.

I wish I had this opportunity when my flares were installed. I paid about the same amount, years ago, for an inferior job.
