It's strange how individual tastes vary over time. I used to regard side-script lettering decals as horrendous and pretentious, but of late I have become enamored with them, as they hark back to a nostalgic time in Porsche history. Further, I feel my car being white, is one of the few colors where sidecripts (in black) actually look good.
However, I don't relish the thought of applying something to my paint that will be difficult to remove if my tastes change again. Does anyone make a non-permanent sidescript, that can be easily applied and removed? With all the wrap technology out there, someone must have done this by now? I approach this whole thing like I view tattoos- I personally would never put an image on my body that I would be embarrassed to hang on my wall, but maybe I'd go for a temporary tat...?? Thanks Jeff, but that thing looks dangerous in the hands of the inexperienced. It’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid.

See the shootout testing video in this link for an illustration of how they work. Seems to all be dependent on the quality and integrity of the paintwork. I am told this is how all pro shops remove decals.

I found this place and bookmarked it years ago. They have magnetic side stripes and other decal packages. Nothing 914 specific but they have the PORSCHE stripes.

The vinyl side stripes are easily removable with a hairdryer, plastic scraper, and patience. The tool does it faster, but as you mentioned, could be dangerous to paint in the wrong hands.
The real trick is to apply the decals with no bubbles… Sheesh just looked at the link above, shoot, i have a large format vinyl cutter and do my own race numbers, stripes, etc… in high quality oracal 651 outdoor vinyl. I might be convinced to do a set for you for much cheaper, depends what you want, and how custom you want it… pm me if interested… |

Somebody was also selling an old set in the classifieds, could prob get them cheap, use as a temp or practice run…
Edit: found it… looks like they’re still avail, but white, I prefer the negative 914 stripes (like the BB) but these can look good too… http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=373941 |

If you talk to a print shop, they can use a less permanent vinyl.
