Does anybody have pic handy of the rear bumper metal insert sans the rubber cover? I'm curious about what this hitch is attached to and how it might be fastened.

One accessory feature this 914 has is a trailer hitch -ish. I believe the PO used it to tow his mower.
I think it's attached to the metal rear bumper frame / insert with fairly substantial bolts.
Has anyone else ever done this and / or is this even quasi-legit?

My dad installed a hitch on his '75.
He told me he used stock holes in the trunk floor (I think they are usually plugged with a plastic piece) to mount it and it ran up under the bumper similar to the placement of yours. He towed a Hobie Cat from Illinois to Florida and back.

Most definitely got a lot of double takes!

The wheels were on the 914 when he bought it so not sure if stock or not. They look like chromed early steelies.

Finally have the vacuum lines sorted out and installed a new battery. Started right up, idled well and most importantly, it started right up after it was fully warmed up.

Took it for a test drive and it ran pretty well...until I started smelling gas! Luckily I was only a few blocks away and was able to limp it home. It ended up being the easiest FI fix, ever! The PO simply forgot to put a hose clamp on the fuel pressure regulator and the hose popped of. New hose clamp and a few minutes to install. Pic below.

Snapped a few pics while out, which makes it look waaay better than the 10 footer paint on it should look!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) very Nice!! i just saw this thread when updated, i missed the original post.

I have wondered how many 914's were actually ordered with our L99K Copper Metallic paint, I've seen only 3-4 others here on the forum and a couple have come up for sale, one in florida one up north and now yours from Texas. Mine was an Ohio car originally, the other 2 i know of here are JIm Hoyland's in CA and one in Peoria Illinois
