Was the chrome "ornamental exhaust pipe" (901-111-245-01) standard on 914-6? Authenticity book just indicates "there was a chrome removable tip".

Is there an easy way to distinguish it from the myriad of other exhaust tips (e.g. diameter or markings on the part)? If I go shopping on the boards or auction sites, I want to make sure I get the right one.

Thanks.

914-6 was a special tip, has different angle cut to fit muffler because of tail pipe bend.

Here's what mine looks like. Top view/bottom view. No idea if a 'factory part'. Installed by the Dr when AA did some work on my car 35 yrs ago. Just swapped the muffler for one of Ben's a couple years ago so this was on the shelf.

Here is an original 914-6 exhaust finisher (tip). It has almost square shoulders on the tip. The reproduction tips we usually see are more rounded on the tip adornment.

Part # 901 111 245 01 from the 914 parts catalog
Can you each provide dimensions of the diameters and lengths (short side & long side)/? Enough to create a dimensional drawing?

Best I can get from mine: (tip end appears 'square' so may be a factory part)

caliper I have is US only

Rim thickness 0.160"
outer diameter of rim 2.700"
outer diameter of pipe 2.540"
inner diameter of pipe 2.400"

short length of pipe 10.5 cm (to lip edge)
long/point length 18cm
