What are you meeting up with what’s left of the Traveling Wilbury’s? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rocking nana.gif)
That’s the beauty of the 914, you can only bring what you really need. Have a great trip - even if the 914 is being neglected. |

My son is having a weekend with my brother, a professional musician. They are going to go through all of the trumpets we have collected and do some culling.

That's nice, this guy outlined my route in a nice dark color so I won't get lost.

And now after my 3rd day of 97 degree days, I am sure I made the right choice. I have driven to Chicago, then to Iowa, then to Minnesota, now back to Chicago, and on each of those the heat has been.. extreme. I would have been beyond miserable in the 914. Going to a white Sox game tomorrow and then back to New York on Tuesday. Following this oven all the way home

97 is pretty toasty.
I think we were tougher in our youth. I used to daily drive the 914 between Lansing MI and Detroit (90 miles one way). Left at 4:15 am in the morning - easy and cool. By the time I was got out of the plant at 3:00 - the car was so hot I’d put a towel over the seat to keep from touching the scorching hot black vinyl and would often drive home shirtless in mid 90s temps. That would probably wreck me now . . . so I don’t begrudge you for not taking the teener. I added up the total mileage from my cross country trip and the jaunts in between. Total mileage was 5260 across 20 days. (Not in 914). You’ll be up there too after all your travels! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Everyone flies now - way to go driving! It’s a lost art (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) |

It’s a lost art (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) the problem you guys have is humidity. killer. can still remember chicago summers from half a lifetime ago. the midwest is like brisbane here. suffocating humidity. never go to brisbane australia in december, jan or feb. or north of brisbane. down south here in north antarctica its a dry heat. air temps exceed those of your middle american summers by a lot. but no humidity. makes all the difference. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) no tornadoes either. ok small ones. and rare. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |
