I have a 72 914 with the early type wind up mechanism which keeps popping out of it's track. It looks like the nylon wheel guide allows the wind up pin to pop out, I'm wondering if its the nylon bush that needs replacing or what. I'm sure this is not an uncommon fault so any guidance on this would be much appreciated.
ps; if it is the nylon bush I can't find the part number anywhere. |

Replace the nylon roller.
Spray the regulator with brake cleaner to break down and cleanup any old grease that you can. Then spray with a lithium grease. Work the regulator full range without being attached till it feels smooth. |
