Call pelican. They actually took a week to get my shipment and sent me a replacement package. I’m sitting on one here that I’m waiting for return postage on.

Here, try this, a brand new ATE 17mm cylinder (clearly marked as such) at a good price:

Your experience shows that the laws of Fluid Dynamics have application in the real world. Cheers!

No way would I buy that part from those guys. Even though it’s listed as a 17mm, if for some reason it had to be returned you may not get a RA number BTDT!

I’ve only purchased from rock auto twice. Once went fine, once was a pita. They sent me rebuilt Boxster calipers but they were all different colors. They didn’t feel that was a problem and fought the return until I handled it with my cc company. I haven’t bought since.

I saw this on Pelican's site:

https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/9143...mp;KeepHeader=Y

It has a 914 17mm part number. Does FTE rebuild original Ate? Has anyone bought this?

I have had really good experiences with rock auto. Shocking but it's true. Even i am surprised.

I've had issues with rockauto after it changed hands. Couldn't get a replacement for a fuel pump under warranty and a few smaller things.

I’m sure it’s not every time but they are known across the internet for mistakes and difficult service.

Dumb question here. Would a larger 23mm MC be ok with a standard 914-4 caliper setup? Asking since the price for the 23mm unit is significantly cheaper than the 19mm offered by PMB.

Bad plan.

Would result in an 83% increase in pedal force to get the same braking.

For comparison- the 19mm master cylinder is about a 25% increase in force over the 17mm. Way more manageable.

FTE, also known as Fahrzeug Technik Ebern, specializes in hydraulic brake and clutch systems. FTE used to be a subsidiary of FAG bearings. Back in the day, I used FAG/FTE brake and clutch hydraulics in my old Quattro with good results.

If this is indeed FTE 17mm MC for the 914 I’d be tempted to back-date my car from the current 19mm MC (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Or, if you can get a loan, there is this rebuild kit. If it is real.

Getting ready to install a 23mm MC, recommended by PMB. BMW 320i up front 914/6 rear calipers.

That sounds like too much master.
The 914-6 M calipers used the same size pistons as the 320i and used a 19mm.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif)

That seems like a dangerous combo…

S or A 911 calipers on front and Ms on the rear are great (and proper) with the 19mm MC…

The 23 is typically used for 930 and 993 brake conversions…

I have all these setups…
