Getting ready to drop an engine for the first time. Car is a 75 1.8 with stock FI.
I am stumped by the simplest of things; trying to remove the two 10mm bolts that hold the ecu into the plastic "cassette" that is mounted to the battery tray and chassis. I'm referring to the bolts that are above and below the wiring harness plug. The top one came out fine. The bottom one just spins and doesn't back out at all. I've tried getting a small screwdriver between the ECU mounting tab and the cassette to exert pressure on the bolt head while turning it, but no joy. FWIW, I also tried removing the bolts holding the cassette to the battery tray and had the same result; they spin and spin and don't back out. Is there a trick that others have used? Paul |
