From above:
To use it, put the car in second gear. Then set the fixture so the bolt touches the bottom of the shift shaft. Put the transmission back in neutral. Then loosen the bolt at the shifter and make sure it is touching the spring loaded gate, but not compressing the springs. Center the shifter and tighten the bolt. EDIT: explained differently. the point of the tool in the back is to hold the rear shifter mechanism in the 2-3 plane so that you can properly adjust the front shifter to the 2-3 plane against the opposing spring. Ensure the transmission is in 2nd, adjust the machine bolt on the rear tool to keep it there, then adjust the front part of the shifter to put the shifter up against the spring. |

I’m having trouble finding the right shifting plain. I have all of the Tangerine products, but still always clip reverse when going into second gear, so I ordered it. After putting the firewall bearing, shift rod, and adjuster in, I have it shifting pretty well. When I went to put this new adjustment tool on, it is not working as stated and it’s not lining up with the picture provided either. What is shown in the picture as the 2-3 middle plain, is what mine looks like when it’s on the 4-5 plain. When I put it in 2nd gear my shifter on the trans doesn’t have any space as shown. When I have a space, is when I’m in the 4-5 gear plain. What am I doing wrong?? The first two pics are in 2nd gear. The second two pics are when I’m in 4th gear Your bottom picture shows the gearbox in the 2/3 plane. You need to loosen the bolt at the front and you also need to slide the ring gear out of the way so that the shaft will move freely when you use the tool at the back to position the linkage. Once you tighten the clamping bolt, you can slide the ring gear forward again while rotating the worm gear to the best position to mesh with the ring gear. From there you can use the precision adjuster to microadjust your shift linkage alignment. |

Ok…makes sense. I will give it a shot once it cools down a bit today. It’s been over a 100 degrees daily down here in central Florida, can only manage to work outside in the evenings. Thank you!
