So I now have a potentially pretty kool BAT purchase in my possesion.. Its the 914 with the 350 corvette and the Body kit.

Is there anybody who is near to the Charsworth area that can assist with dialing this car in. I want to pay you for your time at whatever rate you are good with.

Thank in advance!!!!

Blair

Wow. Have you driven it yet? With the 11’s up front I would think that power steering would be a necessity.

Was it an out of state car? It is a 1973 914, no smog, make an appointment at DMV. Get some kind of basic insurance on it and bring proof.
Leave the car at home, bring all paperwork you have from the sale with you. No need to mention how unique it is.

You'll have to take the car to the DMV and get the VIN verified and get new license plates, but other than that the registration process is the same as for a car that's always been in California.

If you don’t want to deal with the Holley carburetor, get a Holly Sniper. Better gas mileage and never have to screw with it. After that it’s just another 914, but don’t drag race it off the line.

There's no safety inspection requirement for vehicles in California, just smog required for 1976 and newer. I suppose you could get ticketed though by an observant officer of the law.

If you are a member of AAA of SoCal, they also provide a vehicle inspection for bringing in an imported car from other States. They are cool with most cars, I would bring it in on a low trailer as Not to startle the AAA guy with big noise.
Doesn't hurt to have All of the emissions stickers adhered to a corner of the Targa glass>>some vendors here sell these. AAA kind of chill and could get this through for you; if not they will just state so...if you fail at DMV you risk getting into their system>>refer you to a State referee...and your life just got complicated.

I brought a 914 in from AZ to So Cal and the dmv only verified the vins. They did not care about anything else. My car is a 75. It was a 2.7 six with Weber carbs, etc. they didn’t care.

I just went through this with my local DMV in N. California for an out of state car registration. AAA cannot do vehicle VIN verifications nor can they do the title transfer and registration for an out of state vehicle, only the DMV does this. You have to make an appointment and bring the car in, and the DMV inspector has to locate the VIN stamp on the car. Then you can transfer title and registration, assuming you have the current title and registration from the other state.

Agreed with registration out of state car, AAA only did a VIN verification.

I am in Simi, I got your number via the PM, I will reach out to help you.
