Has anybody tired one of those wipe headlight cleaner on any 914 lenses ? Seems like it would be safer than trying to polish 50 yr old plastic on buffer. I have burned the plastic trying that. Any thoughts?

I have H4 Hella Globes which are glass lenses, but aren't the old sealed beam 914 headlights also glass lenses?

Yup. I wonder if OP has some kind of aftermarket plastic headlights?

EDIT: No, he's asking if anyone has used the headlight cleaner/polisher cloths on our other plastic lenses. I have not.

Not on a 914.

My wife used them on our 2000 miata.

They definitely did improve them, but there's no danger anyone would have described them as back to original or anything. The yellowing did stop being noticeable.

Anything on a 914 is going to be so much older and the UV damage to the plastics isn't reversible.

I can't say if you'd be happy with the results, but they do make a difference.

SOL is a German polishing company that makes a wonderful plastic polish (and also wonderful steel and aluminum polishes)

I’ve hand polished many many plastic lenses. Plastic anything with this polish followed by a coat of 303 plastic coat cleaner/sealer. With good results. It doesn’t last as long as I would like. But good for 6months

Anything from armor all is crap in my book

Maybe gets used on tires. But nothing else. And I keep armpit all away from cars if there are better options

I like the warning on the label "do not flush." I wonder what else they are implying these will remove oxidation from (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bootyshake.gif)
