I've moved the posts several times. This last time there was a puddle of fluid on the post. Looks like it's coming from the coupling.
Anyone else have this issue? Anything I can do to mitigate the leak. I've reached out to MaxJax about it. Attached image(s)

All of the fitting on these lifts seem to be of particularly poor quality Chinese crap. I have been progressively replacing mine as they fail. Problem is finding better quality ones. Haven’t broken that code yet.

Jerry, I went thru this last year. I called MaxxJaxx and they sent a replacement. IIRC, it was ~$70. The replacement didn't look like the original and it began leaking immediately. I called them back and told them it was defective and to send me another free of charge. I took a few minutes to align them with my way of thinking but they sent another "as a one time deal" only. When it arrived I decided not to install it since it looked just like the one they sent previously. Suffice it to say that the original coupling was on for 9-10 years w/o a hiccup. And the only reason it began to leak was because I ran over it with the '70 that has fat tires. OK, I wasn't paying close attention. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) There I said it. The other side with the original coupler (the dusty one in the pics) is still holding. Do what I did in the pic's. The fittings are all 3/8" npt threads. I recommend you use brass since it is a softer material and will seal better. Galvanized or a black steel union is OK "IF" they have a small brass facing on the inside of the union. That brass face is eliminated on the most of the cheap Chinese crap I see lately. Did they charge extra for those snazzy red wheels? LOL

Thanks for the replies. Can't say I'm happy to hear others have had issues with these.
An issue I have now is my 930 is on the lift with only 3 wheels as I've pulled the driver side rear hub off to change the bearings. The bearings on the passenger side exploded 20k miles ago. With the car on the lift, I guess I have to wait to change the coupling until the car can be dropped. Another question: the leaking side has lost fluid and that side lifts an inch or 2 lower than the non-leaky side. Can I somehow even the 2 sides up so the car lifts level? Attached image(s)

Just raise it all the way up and keep pressing the button until the low side goes the rest of the way up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) PS: slide the rest bars in place then lower until all the weight is upon those resting bars. That will take the pressure off the unit and stop the leak for the most part. |

The new units have locks. They did away with the bars.

I've had the issue as well. I don't recall how I fixed it.
But I have also had the issue where one ram was lifting lower then the other. Put them both all the way up, crack the bleeder screw at the top of the ram to force out any air. Fixed. Zach |

Maxjax pointed me to their replacement coupling. Doesn't look the same as the one I have now.

Looks like the maxjax coupler. This one is 1/2 NTP thread. Not sure what the original is.

So I ordered a coupler set from Bendpak figuring I'd go with the original.
When I received the new couplings, replaced the coupling on the post but the new coupling would not thread onto the hose. Tried many times and it just wouldn't thread on. Put the old coupling on and it threaded fine over and over. Finally just put the original back on and contact Bendpak. Contacted Bendpak sending them a picture of the offending coupling. Their response was 'that is an aftermarket coupling and you should contact the vendor'. WTF? I told them if it is aftermarket THEY sold it to me. Finally they said they would send a new set. Actually sent 2 sets so I'll have to try the newer ones on the hose. What a PITA. ![]() |
