Let's get started with the updates we're making to "Wide Red" during its stay At The Red Barn.

Loved the VW & Porsche magazines before it morphed into Excellence. Wasn't quite the same after that IMO. I remember the Bond car with the Gr5 bodywork too. I drooled over that article when I was a teenager. Arguably inspired my own 914 monstrosity.

Let's fix that hole in the rear of the trunk. The ribs were sourced from a factory trunk panel. This piece will be butt welded and metal finished so should look really nice. And it looks like the panel to the right will be modified and included as part of the removable section that runs from the trans mount cross bar, above the trans then up as part of the fire wall.

I thought maybe you made the ribs with your bead roller. I just picked one up and was going to ask how you used it to replicate the stock ribs…..I know you could (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

If you want to see how I was planning to do it with my bead roller, watch starting at 12:18. I cover the whole process on the oil cooler shroud for @Cairo94507 Michael's /6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=388VwDuNM3A |

I remember that, that’s why I thought maybe it was bead rolled. Either way, nice work!

The hole, she is patched! Butt welded factory trunk sheet metal. The reflections make it look a bit odd but it turned out nicely. Watch the next episode and you'll hear all about it.

I Love watching your videos. I want your LS car.. only time and money!!!
I saw the car in person up close before he delivered it to you. It has a WOW factor for sure. I can't wait to watch this series. Rob While I'm at it, I figured I may as well document the updates we're making to "Wide Red" during its stay At The Red Barn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFI-YhoL88c |

We opted to go with all new material for the lower area of the removable section of this drive train cover.
Initial fit looks good so it's on to the upper part. And yes, all those ribs line up with those in the part at the back. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Loved the VW & Porsche magazines before it morphed into Excellence. VW & Porsche morphed into "european car" magazine. Excellence has been around longer than that. --DD And before that it was Volkswagen Greats. These magazines are what fueled my hobby. Volkswagen Greats had an article called “type 4 power play” which led to my 2.4 four in my 914 and VW&Porsche had Marty’s “Hidden Power” articles which led to my six addiction. MSDS in the mid 80’s, sold the cross bar motor mount, headers and mufflers. One stop shop. Everything else I got over the counter from Porsche (tin, lines and tank) and the Weber’s for $1k from PMO. Oh.. the good old days. |

@Steve my original Qwik-6 engine mount + prototype horizontal clutch pulley assembly and ' It's all Stock ' license plate frame>>Still on the car today.
Car just had a major refresh on just about every wear + tear component . I miss those agency visits to McMullen-Argus publishers, and the white-knuckle drives I gave to the editors back then. |

You could lower the floorboards of the car and that would give you a little more room for the passenger seat.

Nose job in process. Someone who, IMO, didn't know what they were doing did some nasty stuff to this car. It's all being corrected. Watch the videos and follow along.

Some elements of this car are well done. In this episode, we get a look at where that's not the case. So let's dig in and take care of that!

Extremely scary to see that modified cars like these are actually on the road (referring to the front body strength, or non-existance thereof). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
Clearly it is in great hands to bring it to the standard it deserves. Love watching the fabrication process. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) As for the headlights, seems like a no brainer in all aspects (location, height, fit). Reminded me of this look, close body color too. |
