I found a stash of ceramic fuses in 8, 16, and 25 amp. About 2-300 of each are available. I was wondering what do you guys figure spare fuses are worth now that they are not being made in ceramic anymore. How would you guys like to purchase spares? I could make them into complete set of 12 for the fuse panel, 1 of each needed depending on year, or perhaps just small 5 packs like the 911 did it with 3 x 8 amp fuses, 1x 16 amp, 1 x 25 amp? Obviously not trying to do this to get rich but would need to make it worth my time to repack/ship fuses.

You must have missed the Aase pricing model that was posted a couple days ago.

you under bid @Superhawk996 - the arse-ee price was $28.00 USD per fuse.
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

lets see thats $42.80 AUD per fuse.
x how many fuses again. ok lets just do the 5 blister pack.
thats $214.00 AUD. + freight. i dunno. lets say $30.00 AUD
then there is the GST decleration. thats $21.40 AUD. then the fee for processing and collecting the GST. which will be more than the GST. lets just call it around $50.00

thats $300.00 or therabouts in AUD. thats two cartons of cigarettes + a box of lighters or 4 slabs of Asahi.

fugedaboudit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

i got a fusebox full of sea ramm hicks. i'm gonna re-engineer them to the end.

----------

but seriously.
i would have thought a full pack of fuses to the board and the engine bay.
for your genuine USA 914 owners - $30-40 range. given its an unobtanium.
and then everyone has some cores they can make it to the end with.

-------------

true story. someone in a 911 in the targa tasmania a few years back got put out of action by one of these plastic fuses. their fuel pump conked out. dopes didnt look closely at their fuse panel to find out what the culprit was. it had melted. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I think making the copper strip and installing it is the harder part. I was looking last nite how the strip wraps around the ends and back.

@wonkipop

Must be showing you price in AUD based on your IP address? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

But OK what the hell, since it’s all fiat funny money - sure let’s roll with $28 USD - that will eventually be the price anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

It is also common for the relay board plastic around the fuel pump fuse to get soft and distort. It is either caused by a dirty fuse to terminal increasing resistance and heat and ir a fuel pump drawing high current. Had to scrap several relay boards when inspecting for restoration.

We have sold the Pudenz fuse packs for $30 to 911 guys who want them to complete the tool kit. Those are for show not use. Someone was reproducing them.

I think that a baggie of 15 fuses for $30 to $40 would be acceptable. The set of 12 for the fuse panel, 2 more for the relay panel, and a spare 8 amp would be my recommendation.

I’m not sure which is sillier $18/fuse or the concept of “show” fuses. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

Maybe we need an option for show quality fuse packs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

The fuse pack shows with the $2000 tool kit. that us what 914-6 and early 911 tool kits are selling for.
I have a friend who refuses to pay that money for a tool kit and borrows a correct kit when he show his car at a CC event. He said many times ths judged do not even look at the kit or know what is correct for the car.

I'm missing the point of using ceramic fuses. I drive my 914 all the time and can't remember the last time I had to replace a burned fuse.

I still feel that way
Buy all of the 18$fuses you want

I have a bag over over 1000 original used fuses and will never buy even 1

The plastic fuses get hot and warp losing contact to the terminals.
Yes fuses do not blow often if there are no electrical problems.

I was thought in the Army Engineer Equipment school that repairs like wrapping a fuse in aluminum foil were a "Field expedient repair"

I think there’s a small percentage of the 914 crowd that will be very interested. I would imagine the 356 and early911S crowd will be more enthusiastic.
