Any recommendations for a mechanic in the Los Angeles area? I live in Santa Clarita. I’m having shifter issues and I need the valves adjusted. Thanks

TRE Motorsports in Van Nuys. Pricey but reliable and they know the cars.

Valves are easy adjust, you should learn it. And Shifter... side? Tail? its usually bushings, there is not much to adjust...but worn trans or engine mounts can affect it too.

Also , if the shifter itself is just toast, there is a way to rebush it.

Good luck.

^ Good call - Dave and Jeremy @ TRE are longtime 914 fans too and not a lot of shops will work on them anymore, at least the -4s

Lots of info and helpers available here if you feel like tackling either job yourself and have a place to work on it. I've had just about every possible thing go wrong in the shifter and linkage over the years. Depending on symptoms could be a problem in the center tunnel, clutch or transmission itself but shifter's a good starting point.
