I had polybronze bushings in my last 914-6. Despite having a zerk fittings in the trailing arms, I still occasionally got squeaks. For my '71, I went with Elephant Racing rubber bushings all-around and am very satisfied; cars rides nice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Anyone using the RSR/Rebel Racing bushings? https://www.rsrproducts.com/product-page/re...ear-bushing-set I'm using them and really like them. My opinion on ride quality may be different than others, but I like a non-binding, low maintenance bushing like teflon. The rear bushing is by design collinear. When you remove the spring, you can move the swing arm through it's arc with 1 finger. I also run their front bushings with self leveling washers for the same reason. I beat the hell out of these and they are still good as new. I have the RSR's in front and ride is great (street car only) and have been thinking about installing the RSRs in the rear, too. |

So what are the thoughts of me towing my car with a two wheel dolly 150 miles each way to Okteenerfest given the condition of the current bushings? Not worried about hurting the bushings but am thinking about tire wear possible other problems? Worried about nothing?

Well, I've got polybronze installed over five years ago and about 4,000 miles per year. No noise, ride is not overly harsh. Only service is grease every spring. I think they are perfect for a 914 that is driven. Mark I think I have put in at least 10,000 miles going to 914 events etc in the red 3.2 with the poly bronze bushings from Elephant. Didn’t notice the roughness. Now getting out of the car at the end of the day - that can be a challenge. Due to height. |

As a passenger in Red for more that a few miles, I can say I've never had back pain from riding shotgun with you. |

I second Rebel Racing RSR. I have them front and rear. 19 mm torsion bars up front with sway bar and 140 lb. Springs on the rear. Handles like a go kart!

I too have the RSR bushings front and rear, 100lb springs, Bilstein shocks and struts, stock front sway bar, stock torsion bars, turbo tie rods and 195/60/15 tires. I have had many people who i have let drive the car compliment on the way it drives and feels on the road including a long time Porsche alignment tech.
I would not go back to rubber. And never any squeaks |
