Carpets. AFMs. AARs. Back pad lights. German windshields.
So many VINs! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Was thinking similar, grab all the hard parts you can.

I would 'think' the seller would do an 'all you can carry..' for $50-100, no matter what it is. Sure beats whatever he is getting from the scrapper...

wonkipop makes a good point. From the pictures it looks like many of those cars are parked so close together that you wouldn't be able get the doors open. Forget about jacking one up to remove the wheels or check for SSIs. Windows look to be closed too, so no getting in unless you break a window, which I guess wouldn't matter at this point, but probably not what the seller would allow. All those original radios and wheels and targa top trim pieces going to the crusher makes me want to cry. Original radios alone are worth more than the scrap money for the rest of the car, as are the sway bars, transmissions and engines.

It's bumpers and trunk lids for me. Wheels, sways, FI and 2L if I could. It would make sense to rent a lot close by and strip them.

If anyone is going, I would love an original stereo with knobs and in good visible condition. Bonus for 1975.

That was actually the one thing I needed too and there was one there, but I was not willing to take the car home for it.

So can interested parties just show up and start removing parts to take home?

Maybe I’m too cynical but I thought that was the bring Cash comment (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Sure would be nice but I have some cynical vision of arguing with some VW guy about how a potentially non-functional Porsche 914 speedo is not worth $200.

I hear you. I actually suggested that they extend this by another weekend to give people a chance to harvest some parts off of the cars instead of the owner calling out the crusher. They got such an overwhelming response from the post they put up on Craigslist, they thought they were going to have more people than they could handle and they would try and get cars to as many people as possible to spread the love. However that limited it to just a person that could get it off of the property. To be clear that is still is the goal, and if they would have attracted more 914 World guys, that probably would have happened. A car with no motor is $300 and one with a motor is $500. All the parts you can pull off of that car won't cost you more than that. ( hopefully encouraging you to take the whole thing right)

I did a live video from the site on Saturday so you can get a better idea of what is actually there if this helps https://www.instagram.com/reel/DPCZK6YEhZc/...m9yeDR5MjRudmNx

Very cool, thanks for sharing that!

Really sad to see so many cars that won't be back on the road. Most likely not even donors for other cars.

The fastest way to move these along and allow the community to preserve them is to give them away - FREE. And allow enough time for folks to process them - tight deadlines do not serve anyone.

They serve the owner who obviously bought it for the land, not the cars.

It's worth it when they are 356's. I did a 50 car deal once in Ohio, the guy had never sold a car, ever. We loaded 5 tractor trailers, and lots of U-hauls for engines and other parts. I even grabbed a Porsche tractor.
I doubt I will see another stash like that.

Yea, when you know how much time and money it cost to move a stash, you get pretty picky about what you will take home.

I'll likely sit this one out, but who knows. It looks like cars were already picked through pretty well. I'm sure there are a bunch of gems in the way of parts, but too many unknowns. If I owned a flatbed I'd grab one, but to show up in hopes of grabbing some parts doesn't sound realistic.

Wow, I really wish I could do something about it. As mentioned the cost to move all that stuff would be staggering, and where would you put it?
So much cool stuff though.

Ah well.....

Wow. That's a really unfortunate way for 50 914s to go out. I watched the video and didn't see a single part worth saving. Would have been great to capture those VINs for the registry.

Did anyone buy anything?
