I did this conversion in my '71. Was kinda a bear (mostly cutting over the wiring). But on the subject of ignitions, I bought two used 911 ignitions. Both failed. Also bought a used turn signal stock that failed. Bit down hard and ordered new. They are sure pretty. I guess 54 year old parts can sometimes outlive their age. So hard to know the amount of use when buying used stuff. It's a crap shoot, and sometime you loose. But with steering controls I like having new.

Nice job, sorry about the bracket, but you may have saved me when I do this conversion. I saw you switched dash, but maybe I missed it, you're still going to do the RD piece for the recess right?

@Graydingo - Yes, I will be installing the RD piece, just haven't gotten to that.

RD also used to sell the metal spacer that fits the recess. JimmyT makes a really nice replica Bezel. Not cheap but perfect.

@mepstein Mark - Yep, I got the RD piece and it's now installed. Incorrect fasteners, I know.
And I think I'll give a go to 3D printing my own bezel. We'll see...

Switch cover set from URO, purchased from Summit Racing, of all places. Less than 1/2 of the cost of the Porsche part. I figured if it was a poor fit, a Summit return is easy enough. I'm happy to say, it fits perfectly and looks great. Getting there...

I’ve got the column out of my six if you need any pics or dimensions of the original parts.
