I've got a CarQuest 86012 under the engine shelf in the rear. It'a a metal can filter unit but I see no mention of high flow or being pressurize. Though I was getting 28-29psi before the regulator. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) ?

that will be a full flow high pressure filter looking at it on the link.
thats what they look like.
+ you are getting pressure before the FPR correctly.

i doubt your filter is causing any problems. or making your pump work too hard.

The FP is an Airtex 8445 iirc , perhaps it’s an intermittent issue with this particular unit.
