I've used both 205/55 and 205/50. With a stock geared Trans 55 is definitely better on the freeway. 50 series for the autocross.

Thanks, I definitely don't want it to look like it has roller skate wheels on it.

Hi I used 205/55r16’s when I was using 16x6’s. Bob (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Stick with the stock size tires. No rubbing or mods needed, they just fit. |

ive been running 205/55-16 on my front 6" and the rear 7" rims, t is the stock diameter for your speedo, but like others, im putting the 205/50 on my other rims for AX,
the 55's will give a bit better ride , and mine do rub slightly so i put some 1/2" spacers up front to keep them from rubbing on the full turn . Phil |

It can be difficult to fit 205s under the stock fenders with Fuchs. Since this is a Six, I'm guessing it has the earlier type fender lips which are wider than the later ones. And I'm guessing you don't want to modify the fenders or fender lips. Which makes it more of a challenge.
The problem will be in one rear wheel well or the other; these cars are usually not quite symmetrical. Going narrower makes it easier to fit. Going with 195-width tires (195/60-16 would have near-stock rolling radius) will probably be easier. I don't know if there are reasonable 185/70-16 tires out there, but those would also be close to stock diameter and would be even less likely to cause issues with the fenders. Of course, if the car is flared then all of this is completely irrelevant. --DD |
