There are ways to keep web sites from getting scraped for data. Blocking Google and other common data minors was realitively easy back in the day. Looks like there are tools out there to block AI, too, but I don't know how effective they are. |

Yeah, simple HTML code (at least for robots). But I did not mean to lament that the data was being taken or stolen, but that my core reason for keeping these forums alive - ensuring we don't lose the historical knowledge - should be covered some day, if not already, by that data being scraped and becoming available elsewhere. But there truly is nothing that can replace the human interaction of this knowledge base, especially when it's either wrong and/or nuanced. For example, you know the best way to get the right answer in social media to anything? Simply declare something you know is wrong. Quite quickly the Internet will pounce to correct you. I don't think AI gets that...yet. - GA |
