This begs another question, what did the HF universal tow bar end brackets USED to look like when this tow bar bracket was conceived?

My sincerest condolences for your loss and best wishes for a successful tow. No parts or experience with towing and no extra clutch cable.

Glad you got it mounted. Which tow bar you use depends upon which tow bar mount you have. If you have the 914 Rubber tow bar mount you either need the EMPI VW1401330 tow bar (used for a VW Super Beetle) or you need the adapters to use the HF tow bar. If you have the 914Werke tow bar mount I believe you can directly connect to the HF tow bar. I will say I have no experience with the 914Werke tow bar mount. It looks to me like you have the tow bar mount that needs the Super Beetle tow bar. I could be wrong though. Hard to be absolutely sure from this far away.

Q: Any idea what the HF tow bar adapters look like, where to get them, etc. I'm getting pretty desperate !

OK, I have an idea. What if I used an angle grinder to cut a slot into the HF end bracket I have to "adapt" it to the tow bar bracket?

I may also have a line on a Super Beetle Tow Bar I can borrow through the local ACVW club.

Thank you for the link and pics !! I'm taking the car just across the bridge in Southern IN
to the hotel maintenance directors' garage.

I was able to borrow a Super Beetle Tow Bar from a local VW Club member. and it is confirmed that it fits!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dancinnanner.gif)
