Following a discussion on an Alfa board, the group and Weber itself state a manometer is the way to synch multiple venturis, we and taken the snail as the "only" tool for this task. Perhaps this is one of the mysteries of carb tuning. Personally I have used both a Uni Syn and recently a snail and have gotten decent results, but always have a small sneeze of hiccup or some other minor concern. From what I know there is no manometer with six tubes for us /6 guys

Well, having experience with all three (my moto has a four-throated carb) having a gauge hooked up to all bores makes tuning a ton simpler (Morgan Carb Tune*).
But given that each measure intake manifold pressure, either directly or inferentially, I don't really see much of a difference. It's a personal preference and whether you can get to the bores (you can't on the moto). I use the snail for my dual-Dells race 914. Works fine for me. Sneezing, hiccups, stalling and such are all part of dealing with carb tuning.** *I never thought of using the Morgan on my 914. Might be interesting to try... ** (And is this where would I jump in and offer that electronic fuel injection, even that of 50-year-old designs, works pretty damned nice? You can even improve it with a modern cheap ECU...hell even the old mechanical kugelfischer worked great -- if you knew what you were doing...) |

the Weber Tuning book recommends a manometer and it makes some sense as to how it works, but where does it connect? From what I can tell it needs a vacuum port (above the throttle plate (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif) ?)
