My favorite Porsche engine, the cam gearing reminds me of my days racing a Ducati Diana, spent a lot of time at Dan’s Cycles, building the motor.

I thought someone might enjoy.

The 4 cam engine is certainly a work of art
and the prices reflect that..

Unfortunately the only 4 cam engine I can afford is in this.

Jeff is truly one of the masters now, he was trained by the true master, Gerry McCarthy, who went to Carrera School in the back of Hoffman's and worked on everything! If you look close you can pick a very young Jeff out of this picture.

Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed seeing the insides of the 4cam.

We love our Carrera S with its 4 cams, hemi heads, and 32 valves of awesomeness. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif).

Only heard a 4 cam in person a few times in my life. Amazing sound with all those gears. Too bad someone over the decades never developed either a complete replica or something based on the T4.

Capricorn does a complete replica of the 2L plain bearing version.

It used to be; that car quiet in boulder had a running 4-cam stuffed into a late 60’s bmw motorcycle. He would start it at swap meets. Probably late 1980’s time frame.

It was amazing sounding

One of my customers has a couple of them. He told me he purchased them back in the ‘70s for $5k each. Also two speedsters for $300 each and a real RSR for peanuts. If they not we could go back in time….

But even with all that he can't get over the Spyder he sold in 1979, which he claims is the reason he won't sell anything now.

The RSR that he bought after it got crashed is RSR #1, won the Canadian Cup, Harry Biztek driving, if I recall. I think it was this car.
I was at his old place in Philly, three Speedsters under water bed covers in his backyard, that had been there since the 70's, rust holes the size of your fist. He said he was going to restore them, when, I asked....
