All great advice from each person. I’ve built many engines in my life, but this type 4 is a beast of its own. A 2056 build is challenging enough and will test your patients and skills. Take your time and do tons of research first to see what cam and induction system you want to use before ordering parts. The web cams are more suited to this engine than a scat cam will be. Also have to have matching lifters to the cam you buy. Upgrades for a build can include swivel feet rockers and custom cut push rods. 2.0 heads are super hard to find without cracks around the spark plugs and where the cylinders meet the heads. AA makes decent castings that you can have someone build for you. If you end up using AA heads already built, make sure someone that knows heads goes through them and dials them in. Don’t start your build until you have the case decked by a type 4 shop that does it correctly inline with the crank. The cases sag in the middle over time and will cause leaks in your cylinders. Always double check any machine shop work that you have done!! Oil pumps are a Super important part of these builds and can cause huge headaches. Pay attention to the oil ports intake and exit to make sure they line up and that the pump body is not smaller than the bore of the case. If it sucks air from the case you will have poor idle pressure. You want the gears level with the pump body so that when you put in the .002 gasket in, you will have proper clearance and good idle pressure.
These are just a few of the things I’ve learned building my first type 4. And I learned them the hard way. I’m building it for the second time as I write this.

I’ve seen an 88mm stroker in a type 1 racing engine. They’ll get a couple runs and it will come apart. Now some do not care, lasts through the race it is gold. 3000 seems like a good price, and you could probably sell off the crank/rods to a racer . The heads sound nice and a 100mm piston and cylinder set would be the same machining. I have a counter balanced 2.0 crank and a lightened flywheel though it is 13 pounds. It decelerates nicely, almost like a Jake brake. Handy in the twisties. And like sir Andy said “Yes”. I hope it works out for you
