So, since getting my car back "working", I've slowly whittled down the reason for the failing idle as the fuel pump being too strong. I'm pretty sure these carbs are supposed to take 3-4psi, and the mechanic installed a 6psi pump. Great. Amazing, even. Would explain why one of my carbs is backfiring, and the engine won't idle (unless I'm wrong and this is actually an acceptable pump solution?).

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid pump I can use? At this point I'm past frustrated, just sort of annoyed I put my trust in a mechanic who screwed up constantly. Guess it's true, you want it done, you do it yourself.

This isn't a perfect rebuild or anything, so I'm not super interested in shelling big money for Bosch stuff, but if it's what I gotta buy I want to know so I can do things right.

And, thanks as always. You guys have helped me more than I could ever ask. If I ever see any of you, beers are on me.
