Neither of the sides (longitudinals) are stock. They have been repaired with additional metal (!). The door gaps seem suspicious unless it is camera lens distortion...

It seems I have a rotisserie in my future, but one step at a time. I am still in the part of the project car curve where the delta between the imagined state of the chassis and actual condition is increasing. What makes this interesting is that I am clearly not the first person to work on this thing. Here's the floor- see if you can spot where the patch panel is visible underneath the original floor. Both are rusting as it turns out:



Some PO put a lot of work into this - note the number of individual patch panels tacked into the driver side floorpan-which seems to be a replacement piece as there is no tar.



But overall, the body is in good shape and the doors open-thought the passenger side is a bit tight:

Project update: no progress on the project. With a full time job, two kids, and an ongoing racing commitment I have managed about three hours on the 914 since last post. This was fine for a long term project, but I also need something with a back seat these days, and all the research on alternative powerplants for the 914 transfers over to another German RWD platform with less of rust problem (e30). All this means the 914 project is going to go up for sale. Many thanks to the forum for it's wisdom, I spend a lot of time on research and the 914 community is one of the best informed and close knit out there. I'll have the particulars for this car up in the classifieds shortly. It'll be a good project and I hope someone gets her back on the road!
