I think that bus has already left the station..

My ambition for working on it is about 0..

I will leave it to the next owner to put back together or sell,
depending on her situation at that time.
I already have the next owner picked out baring financial disaster
in my life before I pass..
I do still accumulate stuff for it and mark the boxes appropriately.

I was 18 yrs also when I traded building a fireplace with my mother for her 914 1.8 after she had it for 2 yrs. She liked red with red/black checkerboard seats. She was 40 yrs old when she bought it. Now she's 91 yrs and driving a Lexus.

Way to go 914 bro!! Red is right on.

Well done, Gandalf. And I would say a good price, too.

I bought my "nice car" 52 years ago. I paid $500 for a "lightly used" 1969 Fiat 124 Spider. Most of that use happened when the PO hit a pole dead center, hard enough to push the bumper, grill, and hood inward about a foot. But it was running, and otherwise in great shape. I got to learn (and addicted to) all sorts of car repair, especially on them furrin cars.

I only have one photo. hard to see, but in the first repair version, I straightened the hood and painted it flat black.

I had a 68 124 spyder. I bought it new, only god knows how I qualified for the loan, and drove it though the rest of the summer and the winter. In June of 69 I loaded everything of value to me in it including a girlfriend and moved from Nebraska the California.
In 1970 I went to the Porsche dealer, they had two Porsches, an orange 914/6 and a red 911T. Very close to the same price. I bought the 911.
Now I wish I still had the 911 but I don't expect to ever see it again. Since then I have had at least 5 914's, including two 71 sixes; one of which I still have. Good times and bad times.

Yes, I went to Ralph’s shop in Framingham Mass a few tilmes..
Way back in the mid 70’s.. The guys working for him scared the shit out of me
by telling me things I needed and the cost.
Ralph’s engine builder. Don took pity on me and told me to come to HIS Shop
on the orher side of Framingman and he took care of everything with no charge.
We have been friends since.. He did retire to Nova Scotia a few years ago but we are still in contact occasionally.

I have gone to a total of 1 PCA Event back in the 70's.. The 914-6 people were treated as if we were lower than whale shit.

There was 1 nice guy ... His last name was Houseman, gave me the directions to Ralph's shop on a scrap of paper.. He was 1 of the owners of H+H Specialties that made the sway bars that are still on my car today. I drove to his house and bought them..

Here is are the directions..

Great old story! My story is 52 years old, too. I had bought a 73 vette as part of a group buy in Annapolis in 1973. I was on an on ramp to Rt. 50 with a 914 in front of me. I intended to blow him away. I couldn’t. He had a six. Two years later I sold the vette and bought a six. I’ve had a Porsche ever since including my current six.
