Good friend of ours Tom L. from Santa Fe NM, is the new Steward of the famed Yellow School Bus (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)
Originally built in 1979/ raced by Wayne Baker in the '80s ; Wayne then took the wheel of his IMSA 934...and the 'Bus sat, sold off, somewhat raced then stored.
"Ran when parked"
It is a highly tweaked T4 2.2L custom engineered 6-stud heads, BMW mfi (2002tii) in a 1,650 lb 914.
Some pics to follow, and he's waiting on the rebuilt heads from Pauter; might make Sonoma this month ¿¿

Kinsler/Hilborn or similar on the manifold shot.

Probably the MFI pump made by Kugelfischer that was from BMW 2002tii

I've driven a bunch of old race cars, and those AP Racing calipers were the stiffest aluminum 4-piston types available. <5lbs each with pads.

I like the name - wasn’t sure what to expect when I clicked on the link! I dig the style and must be great on the track. Looks like a Sheridan body kit?

Rodger Sheridan car/ style/ kit not yet hatched in 1979; more than likely Dan McLoughlin's A*I*R fiberglass Porsche racing molds from his Burbank CA fab shop.
School Bus' named by it's builder/pilot Wayne Baker.

Alternator runs via pulley drive off of R/ rear axle; -0- parasitic drag on crankshaft hp loss.

Interior of the 'Business office, 2) flexible air duct hoses carry forced air from 2) 12v fan motors>> going to Left and Right side of the engine cooling tin. The normal T 4 squirrel cage cooling fan/ housing is absent, for even less crankshaft hp draw, less weight.

An old page out of Dan McLaughlin's A*I*R brochures. He was the biz partner of American Int'l Racing with James Garner ("Grand Prix"), and constructed track/ street body panels mostly Porsche.
Dan also built the IMSA body for the black Altec Lansing 914, and the John Bond 930 powered 914.
I still have lots of A*I*R products on several cars, all hand laid glass, Dan did not use 'Chopper fiberglass guns.
The School Bus could have used period fiberglass from a couple other mfgs, or a mix of sorts as there were also; Mitcom, Hoseman, Fiberglass Trends mfg. in those days.

No clue on the 10/20 of the Blue John Bond car, was on the Cover of a major magazine once. Glen Stazak or someone here on the 914World brain trust might know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Back to the School Bus.

Why did Wayne run the -4? Understand that a -4 is hundreds of pounds lighter than a -6 but did IMSA give an additional weight break over running a -6?

Seems like a lot of development work involved.

And what was the -4's displacement?

A substantial vehicle weight reduction (IMSA gcr's in period) with the T4 engine Vs a 6 cylinder. Wayne was up against mostly 911 n/a's.
His #22 race standings are still archived and accessible somewhere online.
Being of mid engine and light ( U know all about that ¡) , he was a good pilot and the car just needed to stay together (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
