I'm finishing up new vinyl install and I'm having trouble with the sail trim attachment (PO had it glued in place). Does the clip face rearward? Also, the clip seem too narrow to engage both sides of the channel in the underside of the trim piece. Is this normal or is the clip simply too small? Thank you, John

I haven't attached one in years but I thought it just clipped on the end and used some double faced tape or butyl to keep it from moving. The reproduction pieces, even from Porsche, are not as good as older oem.

If I recall right, you need to rotate the clip 90 degrees and it will slide into the trim piece and you attach the nut from inside the fender well. You could use some dum-dum on the trim piece to keep the clip from being loose in the trim. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I found it seemed to fit better with the raised area to the middle. And yes it took quite a bit of fiddling with the lower new Porsche trim piece to get it close to fitting. The original still fit perfect but all sc ratchet up so I didn’t use them

Yes, I made it work with the lip pointed back towards the top, and I had to insert the clip before I attached it to the fender. Pretty satisfied overall with the job, but the drivers lower trim is not quite long enough. Not sure why. I cheated a little around from the door side to make it better than this but there's still a gap. I guess it just goes with the general imperfections on my car. Perhaps the driver's rear fender is slightly further astern. At 68 my left side is nothing close to my right, and I'm thankful to be walking straight. So if my car steers straight I should count myself lucky.

Hi nice work ,i remember adjusting the door window end of the lower trim ,if you are careful doing that you don't damage the anodizing @ that end .
How did you go getting the nut and washer on the bracket above the oil tank ,I found it a bit of a challenge with my factory tank in the way and had to do it by "feel" and finally got there .
Common sense would have been better on my part as I should have fitted this with the tank out but was keen to get it driving after the build.
Cheers.

Yes, getting the nut on near the oil tank was a bear. Had to pull the rear wheel off and use a long pair of forceps to start the nut. Dropped it four or five before I got it to thread. Very difficult, and the stud didn't extend enough for me to get a washer on it.
