From the '76 Parade in Brainerd... sure glad I didn't have to take it home on a plane-weighs a ton!

(did much better than at Pocono in '74- a guy two cars ahead lost it and stuffed his car into the wall, basically smashing it all the way to the gas tank...kind of took away my enthusiasm)

@SKL1 I was at both those Parades - as 4 and 6 year old lol. I remember both, especially the '76 one. There were some cool Porsches there. 917, 908, 904s, RSRs, etc. The factory stopped by with a 936 that had raced in Mosport, if I'm not mistaken.

Congrats Tony. I had the white 916 Test Mule there and you scored .4 points more than I did.

The pictures of my car posted show me being interviewed by a local writer. He couldn't believe the history of the car and that the car was restored 35 years ago.

To answer the question of whether it is a real 916, it is not. It is the test vehicle that was used by Porsche for testing the welded roof and suspension set up for the 916.

It started out life as a 914-6 and was in an accident. Porsche couldn't sell it and they sent it to Weissach to repair. It then was used for testing.

Again, congrats to Tony, well done

Steve

Some days I don't need much help!

@9146GUY- fascinating history of that car. Would love to know how you found it.
