Is there a way to get the seat to move forward, since the handle is snapped off without removing the seat, at least till I can get another one put in?

reach underneath the seat, to the rail where the handle used to attach. push it upwards with your fingers and slide the seat back

I tried that both ways, and no go.

have you tried putting a screwdriver (a long one) in as a lever?

If it is mostly forward and will not come off the rails there is a limit spring that must be lifted to continue forward off the rails
If it is still rearward and will not move forward with the broken handle part lifted you've probably got a lot of rust/corrosion on the rails.
Keep the broken handle part lifted and get brutal on the back of the seat. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I tried with the screwdriver and lifting it, and tried grabbing the end with a small vise grip, but no go either.

Those three pins lock into the slider.

So this needs to raise up. I would wedge a screw driver to hold that up
so it keeps the pins off of the slider. Then like said above, get violent down low in the back. It may take that to get it moving. WD 40 might help.

Still no luck getting it to budge, and no room in the back to do anything.

I took the cushion out, and was trying to tap on that pipe through one of those holes to jar it loose, but no luck so far.

None of those issues.
I did spray some PB Blaster as best I could in case it's a rust issue?

Is there a spring strip in one channel that would help release it??

Remove the four bolts that attach the seat frame to the hinges and take the seat out of the car.
Turn it upside down where everything is more accesably. Slide the frame off the rails. Clean and lube the rails on the seat and the froction surfaces on the frame.

It's all the way back. I don't think I can get to them, I'd have to go by feel.

I have a screw driver in about 8", so the tab are up, and no way I can even reach the bolts in the back, cuz the mecanic had it all the way back, and a broken handle, so I don't know what all happened, but I've never had any issues before that.

I tried clamping on a vise grip on those front edge of the rail, to grip and tap forward, but not a good surface to tap against.

Try putting the screwdriver in the other track. Over the years people have switched the sides that release the track.

The outer one has that thin plate in it, but I had both sides proped up, and still won't budge.

The rails mounted to the seat may not be mounted parallel to each other and its binding.

Try putting the seat cushion back in, sit in the seat and pull up on the piece where the handle was attached. Then forcefully scoot forward in your seat, with both downward and forward pressure.

This worked for me when I couldn’t get my seat out.

Good luck!

Any chance there are two broken release handles on the seat ? If so you'll need to lift both.
Try this.
Attach a ratchet strap between the seat base and the brake / clutch pedals to
apply constant forward pressure while rocking the seat side to side, forward /
backward.
If it does come forward, remember to lift the limit spring to allow it to be removed

Use the lever on the side of the seat and rock it back far enough to unbolt the front stop bracket. This will allow the seat to rock back far enough to reach under the seat and unbolt the hinges.

I already tried that, and is too far back. I think the track is covering the bolts at this point.

I think maybe the mechanic slammed the seat back too hard or something, cuz it wasn't that way when I brought it in, plus a broken handle.
